Bhule Bisreh Khel: Reviving the Forgotten Games of the Past

In an effort to reconnect students with the joys of traditional childhood games, Vedant International School organized a special event called Bhule Bisreh Khel. This initiative aimed to reintroduce old-time games that have slowly faded away due to the rise of digital entertainment and the pressures of modernization. It was a nostalgic and educational experience as teachers took the lead in teaching these classic games to the students.

The event began with teachers gathering the students outdoors to explain and demonstrate a variety of traditional games. Among the most popular were:

* Hopscotch, a game that combines agility and coordination, bringing laughter and competition to the playground.

* Sattoria, a beloved Indian game of strategy and physical dexterity, often played with small stones or pieces of wood.

In addition to these, teachers introduced other beloved games from their own childhoods, such as Marbles, Kho-Kho, and Lagori (Seven Stones). These games had been passed down through generations but were slowly vanishing from the lives of the digital generation. The aim was to remind students that these traditional games are part of a rich cultural legacy that deserves to be passed on.

The excitement was evident as students quickly learned the rules and enthusiastically participated. Teachers shared stories of how these games were an integral part of their childhoods, highlighting the physical, mental, and social benefits they offered. Not only did the students learn new skills, but they also gained a sense of connection to the past and to simpler, technology-free times.

Parents joined in to share their experiences with traditional games, making the event a multi-generational learning experience. It was a delightful sight to see the playground come alive with energy, laughter, and friendly competition, as students engaged with games that had once formed the cornerstone of childhood fun. The event ended with a discussion about the importance of keeping these games alive, so they continue to be a source of joy and learning for future generations.
